Abandonment is your alchemy.

We have come a long way together in this school. You have looked directly at things it would have been easier to keep avoiding, and I want to honour that before we close. Whether you can feel it yet or not, you are not the same woman who opened episode 1. The very fact that you have come this far means God has been working in you, and the work is real.

This last episode is not about a new wound. It is about what you do with everything you now know. Because understanding your wounds without actually changing is just sophisticated suffering. The knowledge is not the destination. The knowledge is the map. The destination is a different life.

What alchemy means

Alchemy is the ancient practice of transforming base metals into gold. The alchemists believed base metal could become gold through the right combination of fire, pressure and time, and they were not wrong about the principle. They were wrong about the elements. The true alchemy was never about the metal. It was about the transformation of the person who worked the process, and the true alchemist has been God all along, transmuting not metal but the pain of His daughters into the gold of their purpose.

The pain you have been carrying is not just a wound to be healed. It is raw material. It is base metal waiting to be turned into something that could not exist without the fire.

What you went through is your curriculum. Not your identity, not your limit. Your curriculum. Every single thing that happened to you, every abandonment, every wound, every pattern you developed to survive, it equipped you to understand something about the human experience that people who did not go through it cannot access. And that understanding is your greatest asset in building a life that matters.

All things. Not some things. All things, woven together for the good of the woman who loves Him and for the purpose He set over her life before the foundation of the world. This is not the empty promise that everything will be fine. This is the deep promise of a Father so capable that there is no piece of your story, no matter how painful, that He cannot use as raw material for the woman He is forming.

And hold this distinction as we work. Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional. Pain is what happened to you. Suffering is what you have been doing with what happened. Two women can walk through identical wounds and arrive at completely different destinations, and the difference between them is not the wound. It is what each of them did with the wound once it was given. One let it bury her. The other let it build her.

The three movements of alchemy

The Lord gave me a practice for transmuting pain into power, and it has carried me through every difficult season since the day I learned it. It is not theory. It is the work I have done with my own hands, in my own quiet hours with God.

The first movement is to stop resisting the pain. Pain demands to be felt, and you cannot transmute what you have not first acknowledged. The pain you refuse to feel does not disappear. It goes underground and operates from beneath your life, shaping decisions and reactions from a hidden place. So face it. Write it down, speak it aloud, sit with it in the presence of God the way Mary sat at the feet of Jesus while Martha stayed busy in the other room. You already know from this school that naming what hurt you is not wallowing. It is dominion. Denial keeps you stuck. Acceptance is the first step of the transformation.

The second movement is to change the question. Not why did this happen, which is the question that keeps a woman trapped in an unresolvable mystery, but what is this teaching me, which is the question that begins the alchemy. For years I asked God why. Why my family carried what we carried, why I was born into the story I was born into, why the wounds had to go so deep. I never received an answer to why, because why was not the right question. The moment I learned to ask what instead, the alchemy began. The same wounds that had been my torment became my curriculum. The same story that had been my shame became my testimony. Your struggles are not your enemy. They are the training through which God has been forming a greater version of you, and a new narrative is the door to a new life. The same events. A different woman telling them. That is alchemy.

The third movement is to channel the energy forward. Pain is energy, and the same energy that has been weighing you down can become the fuel that lifts you, but only if you send it somewhere. Convert it into building, into creating, into serving the women who hurt like you did. Power is not the absence of pain. Power is the courage to turn pain into purpose, and at the end of every day you get to decide where the energy goes.

You were not left behind, you were set up

There is a sentence that ends the long story you have been telling yourself about why your life began the way it did. You were not left behind. You were set up for a comeback.

Every comeback in Scripture began with a setup. Joseph was thrown into a pit before he ran a nation. David was hunted across the wilderness before he became king. Esther was orphaned before she saved her people. Mary was a young unmarried girl in a small town before she carried the Son of God. The setup looks like an ending and the comeback looks like a miracle, but the miracle was always the plan.

You have been calling your beginning a tragedy, and God has been calling it a setup. The two readings of the same events produce two different women. The woman who believes she was left behind walks through life apologizing for being here. The woman who believes she was set up for a comeback walks with the quiet authority of one who knows what she has overcome and what she is becoming.

There is an ancient Japanese art called kintsugi, golden joinery. When a precious piece of pottery breaks, the master does not throw it away and he does not hide the cracks. He rejoins the pieces with veins of gold, and the repaired vessel is more valuable than the unbroken one ever was, because the gold of its repair tells the story of what it survived. You are a kintsugi woman. The wounds are not erased in the healing. They are illuminated. The cracks are where the gold went in.

Years ago, in the heart of my own transformation, I wrote a line in a song. "Your endless love transformed my heart from ice to diamond." Ice is water that has been left still. Diamond is carbon that has been through unimaginable pressure for an unimaginable length of time, and the pressure is not the enemy of the diamond. The pressure is what made it. You have been under pressure. You have been through seasons that felt like they would crush you, and they did not crush you. They compressed you into something the world has not seen before. The brilliance you carry now is not the brilliance of the untouched. It is the brilliance of the woman who came through everything and carries light in places an untouched woman could not carry it.

Your pain is someone else's door

There is a woman somewhere right now who is where you were two years ago. She is in the eating disorder, or the trauma bond, or the three o'clock in the morning searching for something that will make the pain stop. She cannot find her way out because she does not yet know that out is possible.

And the person most qualified to show her is someone who has been exactly there. Not a therapist who studied it. Not a pastor who read about it. Someone who was in it, who understands it from the inside, who can say I know what that place feels like and I also know that you do not have to stay there.

That person is you.

The clearest picture of this in all of Scripture is Esther. An orphan girl in a foreign land, raised by her cousin because there was no one else, brought through events she did not engineer into the position of queen, and from that position she discovered that her entire people were about to be destroyed. Her first response was fear. And Mordecai sent her the sentence that has become the call of every woman who has ever wondered whether her wounds and her position were given for a reason.

Esther saved her people because she was one of them. She understood them from the inside, in a way no Persian could have, no matter how well-meaning, and her ability to reach them was directly proportional to the fact that she had lived what they were living. The same is true of you. The women God sends you in the years ahead will be women whose stories rhyme with yours, and you will reach them in a way no untouched woman could, because you will understand them from the inside. Your survival qualified you. You have not been suffering for nothing. You have been being trained as a deliverer, and you have not been healing only for yourself. You have been healing on behalf of the women in your bloodline, on behalf of the women in your circle who will see the change in you and ask what you have been doing, on behalf of women who do not yet know your name.

By the word of their testimony. Your story is a weapon. Not against other people, against the silence that keeps other women from knowing what is possible. Every time you speak what you have survived, you are handing someone else the key to their own freedom.

Your wound is your qualification. Your survival is your testimony. Your past is God's proof of His grace. Your story is God's story of love.

What you carry out of this school

You carry this: your identity does not belong to what was done to you. You were known by God before any of it happened. The abandonment did not define you, the addiction did not define you and the wrong relationships did not define you. They were things that happened to a person who was always already more than those things.

You carry this: the healing is not a destination. It is a daily practice of choosing yourself. Of staying at your own table. Of keeping the small promises that expand your self-worth. Of going to the spring of living water instead of the broken cistern.

And you carry this: what was meant to destroy you has become your authority. Not despite the wound, but because of it.

You also carry promises.

The years you thought were wasted are not beyond His reach. He restores them. And Isaiah says, "He bestows a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair," Isaiah 61:3. Beauty for ashes is not a poetic flourish. It is a trade God actually makes, and you have spent twelve episodes handing Him the ashes.

There is one more verse I want to leave with you, because it has been my favorite verse in the entire Bible for as long as I have walked with God.

He is going to do something in your days that you would not believe even if you were told. He is not asking you to figure out what it is or to engineer it. He is asking you to position yourself where He can do it, and that position is the one you have been formed into across these twelve episodes. The position of a woman who has stopped abandoning herself. Call to Him and He will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know, Jeremiah 33:3. The fact that you cannot imagine what He is about to do is part of the evidence that He is about to do it.

One last word about what comes next. The work of this school has been the work of identity, of who you are before your roles, before your wounds, before the world had a word to say about you. The next school takes everything you have received in the spirit and brings it into the body that has been carrying you through it all, because your body has been holding the grief, the exhaustion and the vigilance for years, and a healed spirit is meant to inhabit a body that is honored, nourished and tended as the dwelling God designed it to be. School 2 is the body temple. The journey continues, and the woman who walked into School 1 abandoned is the woman who walks into School 2 ready.
